Comedy | Faith | New York

This charming Yiddish language drama takes place within the New York Hasidic community in Borough Park, Brooklyn. Menashe is a well-meaning but hapless widower who is trying to maintain custody of his son. Due to the tradition of the culture that requires a mother in every home, it is expected that the boy will be adopted by his married uncle. However, Menashe’s Rabbi grants him one week to spend with his son in the lead up to his wife’s memorial. This warm and deeply moving film breathes with authenticity, having been shot in secret within the community it depicts.
