Triskel Christchurch

A masterclass in understated documentary filmmaking, Miss Kiet’s Children immerses the viewer into the classroom of the infinitely patient Miss Kiet. Among the refugee children present four come into focus: headstrong Heya, shy Leanne and troubled brothers Jorj and Maksem. Discretely shot at child level and filmed over the course of a year within the confines of the school, the film is an ultimately joyful and transformative experience but in cleverly setting parameters and eschewing commentary and analysis it makes us consider the lives and backgrounds of these children more deeply.
