The Gate Cinema

Drama | Mortality | Political | Biographical

Tom Hammond (Danny Huston) is a taciturn bookshop owner who doesn’t go out of his way to make himself popular with neighbouring businesses. When his bag is stolen, he descends into a desperate panic, to be calmed by Hannah (Sarita Choudhury) a sympathetic owner of a nearby café. Tom opens up to her about the cause of his distress; in his bag was the last polaroid photograph of his son Luke (Jonah Hauer-King), who was killed in the Lockerbie disaster of 1988. Danny Huston employs a daringly fragmented, non-linear narrative in this deeply moving examination of memory, loss and grief.
