Autumn is fast approaching and the team at CIFF are working hard to plan an innovative and exciting programme of films and events for the 68th edition this November. A reminder for filmmakers that the Late Irish Shorts Submissions Deadline is tomorrow, 4th August; opportunities for seasonal roles will soon be coming up; CIFF have an open call for the Parallax Emerging Film Artist Award with National Sculpture Factory and Sample-Studios, a golden opportunity for emerging Fine Art graduates, and more.
The Irish Shorts Late Submissions Deadline for the 68th Cork International Film Festival is this Friday, 4th August.
The Festival welcomes submissions of Irish Shorts, Irish Documentary Shorts, Cork Shorts and Cork Documentary Shorts and all forms of film production, from animation to experimental and more. Irish shorts premieres are eligible for a number of prestigious and Oscar® long-list qualifying CIFF awards.

SEASONAL ROLE OPPORTUNITIES
Cork International Film Festival, Ireland’s first and largest film festival and one of Cork’s most significant and popular annual cultural events, will return with our 68th edition this November. We will soon be recruiting for a variety of seasonal roles across box office, event management and guest services to deliver our most ambitious and exciting Festival yet.

OPEN CALL: PARALLAX EMERGING FILM ARTIST AWARD
The closing date for applications for the 2024 Parallax Emerging Film Artist Award is fast approaching; submit your entry by 5pm on Friday, 18th August.
This Award from Cork International Film Festival, National Sculpture Factory, and Sample-Studios seeks out, supports and platforms graduate film artists from Irish tertiary fine art institutions. It is open to fine art graduates, graduating academic year September 2022 – June 2023, with Degree Shows May/June 2023, and includes:
- €5,000 bursary
- 12-month Associate Membership and training support from Sample-Studios
- Studio space provision from National Sculpture Factory
- Solo exhibition opportunity in Sample-Studios’ Gallery, The Lord Mayor’s Pavilion, as part of the Cork International Film Festival Programme in November 2024
Closing date for applications is Friday, 18th August, 5pm.
BUSINESS TO ARTS AWARDS
Cork International Film Festival is thrilled to be shortlisted for the third year in a row for the Business to Arts Awards, with our partners ESB Energy for Generations, Future Planet, Bank of Ireland Begin Together Arts Fund and The Gate Cinemas. The Business to Arts Awards recognise businesses, philanthropists, artists, and arts organisations that develop compelling creative partnerships.
CIFF is shortlisted in the ‘Best Small Sponsorship supported by kmend.com’ category with Future Planet, recognising our shared commitment to creating positive impacts on our communities.
The Festival is also shortlisted for the ‘Judges’ Special Recognition Award supported by Accenture UK & Ireland’ for our portfolio of partnerships, recognising our innovative and creative collaborations with: Bank of Ireland, ESB Energy for Generations, Future Planet and The Gate Cinemas.
The Awards will be announced at the National Concert Hall, Dublin, on 12th September.
SCREEN STAKEHOLDER FUNDING SCHEME RECIPIENT
We are delighted to announce that CIFF has been selected for the 2023 Screen Stakeholders Funding Scheme for IGNITE, our cross-border partnership with Docs Ireland that aims to foster a new generation of documentary filmmakers.
The call out for applications to the fourth iteration of IGNITE will soon be published, providing opportunities for emerging Irish and Northern Irish documentary filmmakers embarking on their first or second non-fiction feature film to develop their skills and projects in this year-long talent development programme. Worth a total of over €625,000, 21 organisations have been awarded funding to deliver skills development initiatives for the Irish screen sector through this scheme by Fís Éireann/Screen Ireland.
