Silvia (a superb Carolina Sanín) is a single mother devoted to her sweet, precocious five-year-old son Antonio (Antonio Martinez). Working as a deputy legal officer affords her financial independence, though she is caught up in a rumbling corruption charge against her firm that threatens to become a full-blown scandal. While she tries to convince her cantankerous mother to undergo cancer treatments, a love affair might be the last thing she needs, though it might also provide salvation from her despair. Franco Lolli’s heartfelt drama is a sincere, engrossing depiction of how real life gets in the way of big ambitions and best intentions. MH
