Cork Film Festival in association with First Fortnight European Mental Health Art & Culture Festival and Triskel Christchurch are delighted to present a special screening of the documentary film ‘Crazywise’ on Thursday 17 January at 7.30pm. The main screening will be followed by a post-film discussion.
This award-winning documentary explores the transcendent and healing potential of a psychological crisis. It looks at what can be learned from people around the world who have turned their psychological crisis into a positive transformative experience.
During a quarter-century documenting indigenous cultures, human rights photographer and filmmaker Phil Borges was intrigued by how differently psychosis is defined and treated in the West. Through interviews with renowned mental health professionals, he explores the growing severity of the mental health crisis in America, dominated by biomedical psychiatry.
First Fortnight is a charity that challenges mental health prejudice through arts and cultural action.
