In partnership with the French Embassy in Ireland.

Mathilde (Emmanuelle Bercot) is a French war correspondent who travels to Kurdistan where she meets Bahar (Golshifteh Farahani), the leader of an all-female battalion preparing to liberate her home town from the grip of ISIS extremists. Mathilde bears witness to the women’s story, their desire to right the wrongs they have faced and live in freedom. For her second feature, Eva Husson (Bang Gang, 2015) gathered testimony from women combatants and victims of terrorism to create a work which is a striking and ferocious depiction of female unity, a distinctive war story for the age and a moving film with depth and authority.
