An engrossing amalgam of family drama and revenge thriller, Night Comes On   is a tough-yet-tender story of two sisters re-establishing familial bonds in the shadow of great tragedy. Angel LaMere (Dominique Fishback), a young queer African American woman, has one mission as she is released from a juvenile detention centre: to avenge her mother’s death. As she embarks on her journey with her unwitting younger sister in tow, the story unravels through subtle shifts in tonality which merge to form a haunting meditation on   grief, trauma and the adverse effects of the foster care system.
