It’s 1993, an age before mobile phones and hookup apps, and jaded, cynical writer Jacques (Pierre Deladonchamps) lives in Paris, where he has to come to terms with his HIV status. He meets Arthur (Vincent Lacoste), a college student from Brittany who is keen to embrace the metropolis and its possibilities. An unlikely love affair begins. The latest film from Christophe Honoré contemplates mortality and legacy, though it’s no grim death drama. Rather, it emerges as a life-affirming love story with a terrific, Les Inrockuptibles-approved period soundtrack featuring the likes of Ride, Massive Attack and the Cocteau Twins.
