The narrative of Alfred Hitchcock’s masterpiece Vertigo is engrained in the consciousness of many a cineaste, though this playful, dizzying homage will equally fascinate those who are yet to discover the trials of Scottie Ferguson. From Canadian filmmaking legend Guy Maddin, joining forces with Evan and Galen Johnson, comes an astonishing remake of Vertigo made from archive footage of film and TV shot in San Francisco. It’s a glorious, irreverent celebration of cinema and its possibilities: a pure delight.
