Karoline (Karoline Sofie Lee) is a 30-something who has questions about her past. Born in South Korea, she was adopted as a child and brought up in Denmark. She returns to the country of her birth, a place alien to her, though she meets a supportive community of fellow adoptees as attempts to track down her birth mother hit frustrating, bureaucratic walls. The debut feature from Malene Choi Jensen is informed by the filmmaker’s own experiences, to the extent that it carries the authority of documentary. It’s a profound and moving work that muses on notions of identity.
