CIFF is thrilled to showcase a specially curated collection of European short films to celebrate Europe Day 2024. Join us on Thursday, 9th May, for three distinct programmes: an unmissable in-cinema experience at The Arc Cinema Cork starting at 6.15pm; a captivating online shorts programme; and a delightful family-friendly online shorts programme, both available nationwide from 6pm on Thursday, 9th May until 6pm on Saturday, 11th May.

EUROPE DAY AT CIFF: IN CINEMA PROGRAMME – 6.15pm THURSDAY, 9th MAY, THE ARC CINEMA CORK

Discover an eclectic array of European short films, including nominees for the 36th European Film Awards. This compelling collection spans poignant childbirth narratives, a gripping humanitarian crisis, the intriguing world of axolotls, and architectural reflections on social and ideological divides. It also explores the dilemmas of a women’s choir at risk and escapist fantasies that merge with the enigmatic Arctic reality.

Experience a captivating collection of European shorts, including nominees for the 36th European Film Awards. This diverse lineup features a burgeoning rooftop friendship, a mission challenging a couple’s future, a flight attendant’s transformative journey, and a cinematic poem linking man and bull. Explore a woman’s life journey from a Ghanaian wedding to life in Europe, a young woman’s path of self-discovery, a volunteer’s critique of Germany’s role in international aid, a café routine morphing into dreamlike realms, and a child’s eerie birthday amid Y2K fears.

Available online from 6pm on Thursday, 9th May to 6pm on Saturday, 11th May.

EUROPE DAY AT CIFF: ONLINE FAMILY PROGRAMME

A charming selection of European short animated films, perfect for the whole family to enjoy. Discover tales ranging from a hummingbird’s flight and a Latvian lullaby about baby bears to the adventures of Wolfy and his friends, a lonely robot, and a boy’s journey with a Martian doll from a claw machine. Join a hedgehog’s heroic quest, witness a unique white crow’s heroism, a young polar bear’s Arctic search for his mother, and more delightful stories.
