Last week, we were honoured to welcome Ambassador Ms Larysa Gerasko to our special screening of Cannes-award-winning film Donbass. All proceeds will be donated to Ukrainian filmmakers.

Many congratulations to young filmmaker Francis O’Mahony who was awarded the Cork International Film Festival Award for his film Nettle Bush at the recent First Cut! Youth Film Festival 2022. For documentary filmmakers, the deadline for application to the Docs Ireland Marketplace is Friday, 29th April.
This month you can catch some compelling films previously screened at CIFF2021 at the Triskel Arts Centre, Cork and you can enter the CIFF Easter Giveaway Competition to win some CIFF2021 Festival goodies.
Finally, keep an eye out for a special announcement direct to your inbox next week about our 2022 CIFF Film Club season which begins on Tuesday, 26th April at the Gate Cinemas. Expect a captivating programme taking you on a cinematic journey through Europe.
‘DONBASS’ SCREENING RAISES €700 FOR UKRAINIAN FILMMAKERS
CIFF and our partner, The Gate Cinema, were delighted to welcome Ukrainian Ambassador Ms. Larysa Gerasko to our charity screening of Donbass at The Gate Cinema, Cork City on Thursday, 7th April. We are enormously grateful for your support through your generous contributions which helped us to raise over €700 which will be donated to support Ukrainian filmmakers through the Docudays UA DOCU/HELP fund.
You can continue helping Ukrainian filmmakers through the DOCU/HELP Filmmakers’ Fund, a support fund set up to assist filmmakers as they document the war in Ukraine.

DEADLINE APPROACHING: SUBMIT YOUR FILM NOW TO CIFF2022
Filmmakers – if you missed our early bird deadline for CIFF2022 submissions don’t fret! Our regular deadline is Friday 20th May and you can submit your film via the online submission platform Film Freeway. We look forward to receiving your new and inspiring features, documentaries, and short films for CIFF2022.

TELL US WHAT YOU THINK
CIFF is keen to improve standards of sustainability across all its activities. During our 2021 Festival, as part of this concerted effort, we produced a slimmed-down brochure, the myCIFF Pocket Guide, that was printed on FSC-certified paper from responsible resources. In addition to this, we offered our audiences alternative ways to view the programme through our website and myCIFF app, where full programme descriptions and schedules could be found.
We are now conducting a detailed review of our printed materials and upgrading our digital assets – please help us to develop our offering for 2022, by completing this very short survey.
CIFF FIRST CUT! AWARD WINNER 2022
CIFF was thrilled to announce Francis O’Mahony as the winner of the Cork International Film Festival Award at the First Cut! Youth Film Festival 2022 for his film Nettle Bush. This award enables the winner to submit their film and attend the 67th Edition of CIFF in November 2022, and includes free admission to Cork International Film Festival’s ‘First Take’ Industry Day. Many congratulations to Francis.
DOCS IRELAND APPLICATION DEADLINE: FRIDAY, 29th APRIL
Our IGNITE partners, Docs Ireland are calling out for filmmakers to apply for the third edition of the Docs Ireland Marketplace. Applications are open to long-form documentary films (50 minutes +) across all genres and from any country.
The Docs Ireland Marketplace is an opportunity for filmmakers to meet on a one-to-one basis with leading international documentary industry decision-makers, including international funders, broadcasters, distributors, and exhibitors. It will take place during Docs Ireland 4 (29th June – 3rd July). View the 2021 Marketplace projects here.

CIFF FILMS IN CORK CINEMAS – APRIL
In case you missed them during our 66th edition last year, the Triskel Arts Centre is showing CIFF2021 films Paris, 13th District, an intertwining tale of love and desire from acclaimed director Jacques Audiard, until Wednesday, 20th April, and the bittersweet Compartment No. 6 by Juho Kuosmanen until Thursday, 28th April.
