Culture Night Screening: ‘Idir Dhá Shruth’

Scannán faisnéise faoin scríbhneoir Frank O’Connor. Insíonn an file Liam Ó Muirthile, nach maireann,  scéal O’Connor agus áitíonn sé nach féidir glór O’Connor i mBéarla a thuiscint, gan tuiscint go raibh a ghlór  fréamhaithe sa Ghaeilge.

Cork Film Festival presents a special Culture Night screening of ‘Idir Dhá Shruth’ (Between Two Streams) a documentary film about Frank O’Connor

Celebrated as one of the masters of the short story, Frank O’Connor was also an important translator of classical Irish poetry. In Idir Dhá Shruth, the late Cork poet and writer Liam O’Muirthile tells O’Connor’s forgotten story, arguing that you cannot understand O’Connor’s voice in English without understanding his natural writing voice, which is rooted in the Irish language.

Supported by Oireachtas na Gaeilge, Foras na Gaeilge and the Department of Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht.

Tacaithe ag Oireachtas na Gaeilge, Foras na Gaeilge and an Roinn Ealaíon, Oidhreachta, Gnóthaí Réigiúnacha, Tuaithe agus Gaeltachta

6.30pm- 7.30pm, Friday 21st September

Venue: The Gate Cinema, North Main Street Cork

Places limited, booking in advanced advised.
