We are a local, national and international celebration of cinema, running annually in venues and online in November. As we approach our 70th edition, Ireland’s first and largest film festival remains imaginative and pioneering, ambitious and innovative, supportive and welcoming.
The Festival is led by Fiona Clark, Festival Director and CEO, and Anna Kopecká, Director of Programming.
Cork International Film Festival returns for its 67th edition in cinemas in Cork from Thursday 10th to Sunday 20th November 2022, including a digital highlights strand 18th – 20th.
BRIEF
CIFF seeks to appoint a Publications Manager on a fixed-term contract to manage the publication of its 2022 Festival brochure (‘CIFF Pocket Guide’). This role is ideally suited to a highly experienced publications manager or managing editor who is comfortable using Adobe InCopy, and works well under pressure and as part of a small Festival team. The Publications Manager must adhere to a print deadline of 30th September for delivery of the printed brochure in time for the launch of the 2022 Festival.
The role will be offered on a fixed-term full-time contract basis (6-8 weeks depending on agreed start date), with hybrid remote and office-based working available. CIFF’s offices are located at Castle Chambers, 6 Castle Street, Cork T12 T25W. Remote working for the entirety of the project will be considered, if required.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Project manage all brochure content from copy/image gathering and editing to delivery to design and preparation of final files for print
- Gather programme/film information and images/press kits/trailers through external contacts
- Gather programme/film information and images through internal programming team
- Create brochure layout and page plan for approval
- Copy-writing/editing (for approval by Programming Team) and sense-checking
- Liaise with brochure designer to ensure smooth workflow of information particularly close to deadlines
- Working with Adobe InCopy to make text revisions
- Proof all content for brochure, adhering to CIFF Style Guide
- Coordinate proofing by CIFF team before print deadline
- Create brochure index
- Upload and proof brochure content to CIFF website
You will have excellent verbal and written communication skills. You will be highly organised and able to demonstrate strong editorial and project management skills, including copywriting, copy-editing and proofreading. You will have experience of managing projects through all stages of the editorial workflow, ideally in an arts/cultural/festival environment. An exceptional eye for detail and layout is key, as are creative thinking skills. An interest in film and the arts is desirable but not essential.
