Dead Lover
A lonely gravedigger, reeking of the corpses she buries, finally meets the man of her dreams - a dandified poet who is excited and aroused by her foul odour. But when their romance is cut short by a tragic accident, the desperate gravedigger will stop at nothing to bring her lover back.
Canadian director Grace Glowicki follows up her debut Tito (CIFF 2019) with a rollercoaster romp of a film, coming on like a wild DIY reimagining of the Frankenstein cinematic legend, whilst smashing genres together with gleeful abandon. With only four actors playing all the characters, including Glowicki herself in a deliciously entertaining turn as the gravedigger, and co-writer Ben Petrie as her love interest (to mention just one of his characters), Dead Lover is some of the most fun you will ever have observing the mysterious practice of reanimation.
This film is eligible for the Lookout Award.
This screening is supported by the Embassy of Canada in Ireland.
