Documentary Gala: Here We Remain

Here We Remain follows Irish speaker Ainle Ó Cairealláin on a six-year journey to help build and run a gym in Aida Refugee Camp in the occupied West Bank of Palestine.

What begins as an act of Irish-Palestinian solidarity grows into a remarkable story of friendship, resilience and defiance, as arrests, attacks and the realities of life under Israeli occupation threaten to derail the project.

Home to nearly 6,000 Palestinians, Aida camp lies in the shadow of the apartheid wall, under constant surveillance. Here, the struggle to establish a community gym becomes something much bigger: a fight to create a space for connection, dignity and hope in a place where everyday life is shaped by displacement and confinement.

Following the gym from its uncertain beginnings to its emergence as a vital community resource, Here We Remain offers an intimate portrait of Palestinian life and an extraordinary determination to endure, to return to ancestral lands, and to live in freedom.
