Doc Day Online
20 NOV - 18 DEC | FREE BUT TICKETED
In addition to the in person offering for Doc Day 2026, the festival will host a series of online sessions, complimenting this year’s non-fiction programme and encompassing in-depth filmmaker conversations and case studies.
Rehearsals for a Revolution | When the Personal becomes Political
This Cannes award-winning documentary puts an individual lens on Iran's recent history, in which the filmmaker uses her own story and family history to reflect the wider political and cultural perspective of Iran over the past forty years. This session will examine the intricacies and challenges of funding a personal project that documents not only your own story, but that of a country in turmoil, with a perspective that encompasses both the personal and the (geo) political.
Speaker: Pegah Ahangarani - Director, Rehearsals for a Revolution
Host: Treasa O’Brien - Filmmaker
Tin Castle | Conveying the truth of your subjects
Tin Castle is an affecting and compassionate observation of an Irish Traveller Family, which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival’s La Semaine de la Critique section in 2026.
Director Alexander Murphy’s intimate portrait deftly illustrates the wants, needs and dreams of the O’Reilly family, challenging preconceived notions of his subjects and conveying their truth to the audience. This session will dissect his journey making the film, and how he navigated the process of creating this poignant observational piece, whilst holding true to his creative vision.
Speaker: Alexander Murphy - Director, Tin Castle
Host: Kim Bartley - Filmmaker
Operation Recomply | Documenting a fight for justice
Operation Recomply is the new independent film documenting the UK’s suppression of the pro-Palestine movement, the fight for justice for the Filton 25, told through the loved ones of the imprisoned activists. The session will explore the director’s experience making this brave film, how she navigated capturing this ongoing story and its legal implications, and how she handled her responsibility towards these young activists and their families.
Speaker: Alex Grace - Director, Operation Recomply
