A Day in the Life of Jo: Chapter Phaedra (Mia Mera Sti Zoi Tis Tzo: Kefalaio Faidra)
Fifteen-year-old Jo is melancholic and restless in Athens. On a day like any other day, she misses the school bus, clashes with her mother. At a choir audition, everything changes when she hears Phaedra, a quiet classmate, sing.
Moved by Phaedra’s ethereal voice, Jo approaches her in the library, where the two girls begin to share confidences and discover an unexpected connection. As the day unfolds, while small signs and strange details seem to hint at something just beyond her awareness. Jo and Phaedra make plans to meet later, but an unforeseen turn of events radically changes the course of Jo’s day.
Jacqueline Lentzou’s bold and distinctive filmmaking, for which she won the Best Director award in Venice’s Orizzonti section, is a wonderfully deep ocean of colour and sensation that bathes you from head to foot.
