Minotaur
A high-powered executive's meticulously controlled existence unravels when professional crises, global chaos (read: Putin’s invasion of Ukraine), and marital betrayal converge, pushing him toward a dangerous breaking point.
2022. In a provincial Russian town, the local mayor summons Gleb, issuing an official mandate, to provide a quota of 14 employees from his company to be drafted directly for the frontline of Putin’s “special military operation” in Ukraine. Because many of his staff members have already fled the country to Georgia to escape the draft, Gleb cannot afford to lose 14 workers.
This situation coincides with his discovery that his wife is having an affair. The double crisis reveals dark sides of his personality…
A dissection of modern-day Russia’s corruption, both moral and financial, Minotaur won the Grand Prix at this year’s Cannes Film Festival.
With his signature mise en scène of very precise framing and an atmosphere at once mesmerising and oppressive, Russian dissident Andrey Zvyagintsev adapts Claude Chabrol's The Unfaithful Wife to expose collective cowardice. Powerful and haunting.

The screening on Saturday 14 November will be accompanied by Subtitles for Deaf and Hard of Hearing audiences.
This screening is supported by the French Embassy in Ireland.
