Jamie Goldrick's fascinating film succeeds in many ways. It offers an engaging portrait, both individual and collective, of the people who choose to dedicate their time and effort to supporting Palestinians, potentially putting their own lives at risk. It doesn't shy away from capturing the divergences in strategic approaches and the struggles that all uprisings must reckon with: the pragmatic questions of organisation and alignment.

The film takes us into the lived reality of what it felt like to board the ships, heading towards an uncertain destination, from the thrill of an open horizon to the brutality of Israeli assaults. It also illuminates, with beautiful clarity, the special bond between the Irish and Palestinian peoples, from the inherited wounds of colonialism to explicit calls for the reclamation of collective identity and autonomy.

Naturally, language is a nation's first and most unifying source of power. Ní raibh an Ghaeilge riamh chomh suaimhneach cumhachtach.
