Tutti Frutti
Join us for a conversation with cult filmmaker Céline Sciamma (Portrait of a Lady on Fire) around the screening of her poetic, diaristic film Tutti Frutti, an exploration of events both present and past, from lesbian figures forgotten by history to a landmark trial involving Portrait actor Adèle Haenel.
Filmed in response to the question “Where are you at?” posed by the Pompidou arts centre, this introspective film explores events both past and present that deeply influence Sciamma’s worldview and state of mind.
Some are unfolding in her immediate vicinity, such as the trial of Portrait of a Lady on Fire actor Adèle Haenel against the filmmaker who sexually harassed her when she was a young teenager. Others belong to the past, as Sciamma turns her attention to lesbian figures forgotten by history.
And when past and present are interrogated with such intelligence and openness, they cannot fail to shake us and challenge us to imagine the future.
This screening is supported by the French Embassy in Ireland.
