With the festive season underway and as we approach the close of another year, CIFF would like to thank you for your continued support in 2023. We welcomed over 16k audiences to our 68th edition in Cork City and County (an increase of 40%), and the buzz throughout was palpable, a wonderful celebration of film and culture. Thank you.
Before we sign off for 2023, read below about the 2024 CIFF European Film Weekend featuring the five LUX Audience Award short-listed films that CIFF will screen for free in January. If you’re stuck for a Christmas stocking filler for the film lover in your life, why not buy them a CIFF Gift Card for 2024, an ideal way to enjoy the Festival throughout the year and our 69th edition in November.
We hope you enjoy the festive season and look forward to seeing you in the New Year.

CIFF EUROPEAN FILM WEEKEND
26th – 28th JANUARY 2024
We are delighted to partner with the European Parliament Liaison Office in Ireland which promotes the LUX Audience Award. LUX – The European Audience Film Award is presented every year by the European Parliament and the European Film Academy, in partnership with the European Commission and Europa Cinemas.
The long list of films in contention is drawn from all the Fiction and Documentary nominations put forward to the EFA Awards. Five of those films were selected at the EFA Awards and are shortlisted for the LUX Audience Award 2024.
The five films are:
The Teachers Lounge by İlker Çatak
On The Adamant by Nicolas Philibert
20,000 Species of Bees by Estibaliz Urresola Solaguren
Fallen Leaves by Aki Kaurismäki
Smoke Sauna Sisterhood by Anna Hints
CIFF will present these films for FREE in The Arc Cinema from 26th – 28th January as part of our European Film Weekend, ahead of the LUX winner announcement in March, allowing audiences to discover fantastic films from Europe and have a say in the world’s largest audience award by rating them.
The free tickets will be bookable from 15th January so keep an eye on corkfilmfest.org and across our socials in the new year for announcements.
